Beverley AC try Out New Half-Marathon

A small group from travelled across the Humber Bridge to Scunthorpe last Sunday to take part in the inaugural North Lincolnshire Half-Marathon.

The race was advertised as completely flat and ideal for achieving a personal best time. It started near Quibell Park Stadium and followed rural roads and a section of the River Trent to finish on the pitch at Glanford Park, home to Scunthorpe United FC.

Nick Riggs was the first Beverley runner to finish. He crossed the line in 1:25:48, his fastest half-marathon for some time.

Lucas Meagor, and Tony Hunter all ran their first long race since the Hull and London marathons and Hadley recorded his second fastest time in a half-marathon.

Julie Donald was the first Beverley lady to finish and she came third in the F40 age group. After running both the Hull and London marathons recently she ran a steady race to finish comfortably in 1:38:12.

Jackie Hardman and Amanda Ritchie enjoyed the flat course and recorded commendable times.

There were 595 finishers and the race was won by Gavin Felton of Barnsley Athletic Club in 1:13:35. The first lady was Sally Fawcett of Hallamshire Harriers in 1:27:47.
