Games In The Park Free Fun For All The Family In Beverley

To celebrate the Silver Jubilee of the annual & East Riding Early Festival (24 – 26 May), the organisers have created a day of free musical games in the central streets of Beverley from 11.00am – 3.00pm on Saturday 26 May. Games in the Park will include a whole host of free family activities, including musical games, singing, dancing and a special Pied Piper musical extravaganza.

Games in the Park is just one of more than 50 events taking place across the region over the coming months as part of ‘Imove’, the Legacy Trust UK’s celebratory programme for Yorkshire and part of the Cultural Olympiad.

‘Imove’ has been funded by Legacy Trust UK, creating a lasting impact from the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games by funding ideas and local talent to inspire creativity across the UK.

Delma Tomlin, director of the Beverley & East Riding Early Music Festival says:

“Come and join us for a fantastic day out in the beautiful surroundings of Beverley town centre where everyone from Babies to Grandparents and Great Grandparents can join in the fun with skipping games and songs from childhood. It will be a great way to celebrate with the of Beverley – not only the Festival’s Silver Jubilee but the forthcoming excitement of the Olympics – and contribute to the imove programme. The games we have all played and loved share remarkable connections with cultures around the world and, like music, have a unifying effect on us all.”

The Beverley event will kick off a Yorkshire-wide season of Games in the Park as part of the imove programme, which will take place on specific dates between May and August in Leeds, Bradford, and Ryedale.
