Beverley Town Council Start The Jubilee Celebrations With A Swing!

The Mayor of , Cllr will be holding a Queen’s Diamond Jubilee Ball on the 27th April 2012 to celebrate the Queen’s reign on the throne for 60 years.

The Ball takes place at Longcroft School of Performing Arts Theatre at 7.00 for 7.30pm. The Ball is set out in true jubilee style.

A ‘Right Royal Menu’ will be served, consisting of Rule Britannia Melon Boats, Coronation Chicken and Queen of Puddings. Mr Swings Dance Orchestra will provide the entertainment. Mr Swing’s Dance Orchestra, is a thirteen-piece Yorkshire-based band with renowned vocalist Phil Chapman.

The band will be providing a variety of quick steps, ballads, and modern jive numbers. Mr Swing encourages everybody to get up and dance and enjoy!

Mr Swing’s Dance Orchestra has entertained at many venues including Buckingham Palace and has always received many favourable comments. Come along and listen to the sounds of the big band live, featuring song classics written by Glen Miller, Irving Berlin, Cole Porter & Gershwin. There will be disco to entertain between band sets and provide a fantastic variety of .

Dinner will be served at 7.45pm followed by the entertainment. There will be a bar and a raffle for the Mayoral Charities.

“This will start the Beverly Celebrations off with a real swing! Prior to the main Queens Diamond Jubilee event on Monday 4th June in Saturday Markey Place.”

“Mr Swings Dance Orchestra play a wonderful range of music to dance to but are also are a great to listen to and enjoy the ‘Big Band’ experience that has become so popular.”

The Mayor of Beverley Cllr Peter Astell said

“It would be wonderful to see lots local people supporting the event and raising money for the Mayoral Charities’’.

The main celebration day will be on Monday 4th June when the town of Beverley will be celebrating the Diamond Jubilee of Her Majesty, Queen Elizabeth with a day of celebrations for the whole community organised by Beverley Town Council.

These will include a series of entertainments centring around a stage in culminating with a grand finale concert in the evening, children’s fairground rides and events, a firework display and the lighting of the Jubilee beacon on the Minster.

Many community groups will offer entertainment at the event. It will be a wonderful opportunity to gather people together to learn about and enjoy what, Her Majesty, the Queen and the royal family have dedicated to our nation. .

Any profits from the event will go in support of the Mayoral three local Charities, 399 Beverley Squadron Air Training Corps, Beverley Braves Rugby League Club and Beverley Barge Preservation (Sun) Project.

Tickets are available from the Town Council Office (12 Well Lane, Beverley) at a cost of £26.00 per person. Tables may be reserved for larger groups (Tel 01482 874096). Tickets also available at early bookings are advisable to avoid disappointment.
