Tanners Make It Back To Back Wins In HPL

The Tanners made it back to back wins in the for the first time this season giving their fight for survival a massive boost.

Hodgsons FC, playing at Longcroft School beat 2 – 0 making it three wins from four games.

Assistant manager Andy Lane said;

“The fight and desire was there again today from all players giving 110%.”

“We have cut out the overplay and silly things. Everyone put in a 10/10 performance for me today.”

Next weekend the Tanners face Sports Club, a win for Hodgsons FC would see them open up a six point gap between them and the drop zone with just four games left to play.

Sadly if Hodgsons FC do avoid the drop they will not be playing Humber Premier League football in Beverley.

The Tanners are unable to find suitable facilities in Beverley and like other teams are being forced to play their home games in Hutton Cranswick.

The Tanners are not the only side who have had to up sticks and leave Beverley to play sport, last season the Eager Beaver also relocated and play their football in Lecconfield.

Both sides said they were unable to find quality pitches in the town and the also the cost of hiring the all weather pitch at Longcroft was too much of a financial burden.

It is a real shame that a team like Hodgsons FC who have a long connection with Beverley going right back through the years will not be playing in their home town.

If the Tanners needed better facilities why could they not play their football at Molescroft Pavilion which has everything they need in their home town? There is something seriously wrong with how PUBLIC facilities are used, if that pitch is not in use on a Saturday then questions need to be asked as to why.

Our government want to promote healthy and active lifestyles but if sports teams are forced to play further away from the communities they draw players from they will over time fade away and be lost.

For Hodgsons FC, next season every game will be an away game, let’s hope they can return to playing within Beverley sooner rather than later.
