KC Fibre Broadband Investment Bears Fruit For Design Firm Weborchard

Just weeks after it was launched, the roll-out of lightning fast fibre optic broadband by -based communications provider KC is proving fruitful for a local web design firm.

Weborchard is one of the first local businesses to connect to KC’s new fibre broadband service, .

Established in 2007 and based in Woodmansey, a village several miles from Hull Weborchard provides web design and development, print design, branding and all aspects of online marketing to clients across a range of industries.

The fibre optic link from the Weborchard office directly to KC’s exchange in Beverley means it receives broadband download speeds of an eye-watering 60Mbps – sixty times faster than was possible with traditional copper broadband.

Weborchard’s managing director Paul Cowell is delighted with KC Lightstream and difference it makes to his firm’s broadband experience. He said: “Because of how far our office is from the nearest phone exchange, our broadband speeds have always been much slower than average, at around one megabit per second.

“The nature of the work we do means that we continually need to upload and download very large graphics files via the internet to servers, as well as transferring them to customers and suppliers across the UK, so slow broadband speeds were a constant source of frustration and delays.

“Backing up large files also took a long time – often our connection would time out halfway through a back-up so we’d have to start again.

“These activities are all vital to our business, and the faster download speeds we get with KC Lightstream have transformed our online experience so we can work much more efficiently.

“The difference it’s made is remarkable. Weborchard is continuing to grow and we’re able to utilise the faster speeds to improve our efficiency it will be a great help to us as we take on more work and more staff, which is obviously great news.

“Across the UK businesses based in more remote locations are calling for faster broadband and it’s refreshing to see that KC isn’t just focusing its roll-out of fibre on urban areas.

Lee Hampston, head of business solutions at KC, said:

“KC Lightstream Business opens up the opportunity for local companies to reap the benefits of lightning fast broadband. These include improved productivity, the ability to make the most of business tools like videoconferencing and cloud computing, and the chance to embrace home working.

“As well as the benefits for individual businesses, we believe the roll-out of lightning fast fibre broadband presents the wider regional economy with a unique opportunity. As well as supporting digital and technology businesses like Weborchard to grow, it will make Hull and East Yorkshire a more attractive location for new business start-ups across all sectors.”
