Next Orienteering Challenge Is On Swinemoor

The location has been confirmed for the next Winter Event organised by the (). It will be on Swinemoor, to the east of Beverley on Saturday February 18th.

Access will be at Grid reference TA 050415 off the A1035 to the west of Hull Bridge.

Organiser Neil Harvatt thanked the Pasture Masters for permission to hold the event. “Our original venue had become unavailable and the Pasture Masters were kind enough to allow us to hold the event there at short notice. It has meant a lot of last minute planning as a coloured orienteering map of Swinemoor did not exist, but I am confident that we will be ready in time”.

The Winter Events are aimed at beginners to the sport but always include a technical course for the more able. There will be four courses as normal: White (junior beginners); Yellow (improving juniors); Orange (adult beginners and experienced juniors) and Technical (experienced Orienteers).

Starts will be anytime between 1pm and 3pm.

Entry fees are £2 for adults and £1 for juniors. This includes free hire of the chips which are used for the electronic timing of the event. Harder courses can be attempted for no extra charge after successful completion of the easier courses.

Due to the current adverse weather conditions there is a possibility that this event may be cancelled. If this happens information will be posted on the HALO web-site. (www.halo-orienteering.org.uk).

The Swinemoor event will be the fourth in HALO’s 2012 Saturday league, the next two events are on Beverley Westwood (March 10th) and at Oasis Academy, Grimsby (March 31st). Full details of the 2012 Saturday League and all events can be found on the HALO web-site (www.halo-orienteering.org.uk). The best four results from the available seven events count towards the league.

Further information is also available by emailing neil@halo-orienteering.org.uk
