Steve Evins First Back For Beverley In Boxing Day 10K

146 local runners gathered at East Harriers’ clubhouse in Saltshouse Road to take part in the club’s Boxing Day 10k road race.

The race route took them along Holderness Road to Ganstead and Swine Lane and then back to Saltshouse Road via Sutton. It was a mild and pleasant morning and conditions were perfect for running.

Eight athletes from Beverley AC took part in the race and Steve Evins was the first of them to finish. He completed the course in 42:01 and in 23rd place overall. He was followed by Jody Horth running in his first race for Beverley.

Tina Wardropper was the first Beverley lady to finish. She ran with and they finished together in 47:07. Andrew Brant was still in festive mood and sported a Santa jacket on top of his Beverley vest.

The race was won by Phill Taylor of Bridlington Road Runners in 33:48. The first lady to finish was Rebecca Metcalfe of Barracuda in 41:23.
