Attempt Theft From Cash Machine, Toll Gravel, Beverley

are appealing for witnesses following an attempt theft at a cash machine in Beverley.

At 1415hrs on Saturday 22 October 2011a 27-year-old Hull woman who was visiting Beverley for the day, used the Halifax ATM cash machine on Toll Gravel in Beverley.

As the woman requested a withdrawal from the cash machine with her son in his pram next to her, another woman allegedly approached them and pushed the victim out of the way, thrusting a newspaper into the victim’s face. The suspect allegedly pressed numerous buttons on the cash machine and attempted to take a large amount of dispensed cash from the cash machine.

The victim managed to grab her money back and as a result the suspect allegedly pushed both the victim and the pram away.

The suspect walked away empty handed in the direction of the Wilkinson’s store.

Neither the victim or her son were injured during the incident.

The suspect is described as in her late teens to early 20s, very slim in build, about 5ft 2ins tall, with long dark coloured hair tied back in a ponytail and spoke with an Eastern European accent. She was wearing a faded black coloured hooded top with white numbers on the front. She allegedly wore a faded black pair of trousers, possibly jogging bottoms and was carrying a national newspaper.

Anyone who may have witnessed the alleged attempt theft is urged to contact the police on the non-emergency number 101 quoting crime reference number CS/1870055/2011 or log number 613 of 22/10/2011.
