Beverley Lions Club Thank Community For Their Support

The Beverley Lions Club would like to thank in Beverley and surrounding areas for their generosity at the recent Bonfire and Fireworks event on the Westwood.

The bucket collection will cover the costs of the fireworks for 2011 and will go some way towards next year’s event.

We apologise for the late start of the fireworks – this was due to the safety ropes being totally ignored and the removal of the ‘glowies’ on them.

The Fireworks Company would not start the display until the abusive tiny minority were back at a safe distance.

In spite of this we hope you all enjoyed the evening.  The clean up next day proved that there were vast numbers of people present with the usual abundance of all types of litter with particular concern for the wires left from sparklers.

We would like to thank all those who gave us their time to collect and to help on the evening – the Mayor and , the Police, the , St. John’s Ambulance, Addplant Ltd, Nigel Rice Transport, Humber Colts, Molescroft Scouts, Lads Brigade, Forces personnel from Leconfield, David Oxtoby (for the straw bale), and to the stall-holders and W. BoyesLtd, for their donations.

This is a service which the Lions Club is pleased to provide for the town, with help from the local community.
