Millie Sharp Hat-Trick Helps United Defeat Town

This match saw the league’s top two sides meet for the first time this season, with both looking to gain a psychological edge in the race for the championship.

Mill Lane United knew this would arguably be their hardest game of the season and from the first kick looked to dominate their opponents, with

Millie Sharp and Grace Fletcher both looking pumped up for the occasion.

For the first twenty minutes of the match Hessle, although pinned in their own half for much of the time, frustrated the home side who couldn’t find the early breakthrough.

On the rare occasion Hessle did find their way into the home sides half they discovered , Fennella Scutt & Skye Wyatt were in an uncharitable mood, bossing the Hessle forwards and allowing an easy first half.

However, Mill Lane United still needed to find that opening goal and with ten minutes to half time Millie Sharp picked up the ball outside the

Hessle box and unleashed a screamer of a shot which flew into the back of the net.

That goal was followed by ten minutes of superb attacking from the home side.

The goals duly followed with Grace Fletcher bundling home a Millie Sharp flick on, from a cross, before Millie completed a first half hat-trick first with a crisp finished after a great run and cross from Cordelia Cavill, and then smashing home following a crisp pass from Grace.

Half time arrived with Mill Lane walking of deservedly 4 – 0 up.

The second half failed to live up to the standard of the first, and although Mill Lane quickly increased their lead with another Millie Sharp goal in the first minute, both teams failed to play with any real fluidity as both managers made several changes to their line ups.

Grace Fletcher deservedly was rewarded for her efforts throughout the game with her second of the match, finishing low into the corner after receiving a pass from , while at the other end Leonie Sykes scored two goals, the first a somewhat dubious penalty, however the second was a quality finish after a slip from a home defender.

The scoring was completed by Millie Sharp who capped a superb performance with a simple tap in after a goal mouth scramble.

Final Score: Mill Lane United 7 Hessle Town 2
