Braves Can Hold Neads High

In the first game against Isaac Merryweather was outstanding for the Braves with some furious charges that troubled the Tigers and resulted in a fine try.

Will Cohen took his season’s try tally to 36, the majority of these were scored with sheer power and pace but this time it was clever support play which paid dividends, following the play, sniffing for opportunities, anticipating the offloads of which there were many. The Braves always willing to play an expansive game, Shamus Blades and Tom Nuttall showing the way with some fine skill.

There was also some mean defence on show, Bryan Usher, Charlie Gay, Alexei Rawlings all having big games but it was young Louix Gorman who was the outstanding defender with some excellent work. Despite all the effort the game was unluckily lost 4-3.

Beverley faired better in game 2 beating Haworth 4-3 on their own patch, the opposition were elusive and nippy and the Braves had to dig deep and work overtime to earn the spoils, Alex Nuttall, Fergus Waddington, Lewis Bradley and Ellis Gaden all showed up well to help the boys finish the season on a high.

Coach said ‘Arriving at one goal is the starting point to another’.
