Holly Bentham Wins Silver In Yorkshire Judo Championships

Beverley’s travelled to Bradford to compete in the Yorkshire under 12 years Championships on Saturday 24th September.

After an exhausting day of intense action Holly came away with the silver medal, missing the coveted gold medal by the narrowest of margins.

Determined to build on other successes achieved this year, Holly began in fine style defeating the eventual champion in a close fought contest, which concluded when Holly produced a sublime move to send her opponent crashing to the floor.

Other bouts followed which led Holly needing to win her last fight to claim the title. Despite her opponent having a significant weight advantage Holly fought with speed and vigour meaning the contest went into the golden score scenario.

Seemingly moments from victory a tiring Holly unfortunately fell victim to a decisive score, leaving her tied with the eventual gold medal winner on bout victories.

The medal positions then being decided on a point’s basis with Holly a mere three adrift.  Holly is a member of the East Riding Judo Academy, training at Beverley Centre every Saturday morning.
