Lois Brown Targets Gold in British National Championships

Lois Brown is 17 and currently studying in her 2nd year for A levels at Beverley High and .

She is currently ranked No 1 in England in the junior u78kg class, is on the England talent development squad and recently represented Great Britain in Hungary at the European Judo .

Lois was selected to fight for England at the UK School Games, in a four day event in Sheffield that took place in the first week of September.

During her first fight Lois narrowly lost out to her biggest rival. The fight went to the full four minutes and the scores were even, it then went to two minutes of golden score.

Still they were even so the decision went to flags and was down to the judges to decide. Lois lost out 2-1.

Lois however managed to pull it back in her next two fights; she threw both her Scottish opponents for ippon which saw Lois came return to Beverley with a well deserved silver medal.

The following weekend, 11th September, Lois competed in the Heart of England Judo Championships in Walsall winning her pool of three and moved on to the semi-finals filled with confidence.

Lois threw her opponent for ippon in 11 seconds and gained her place in the final.

After a tough four minutes her opponent won with a wazari, which meant Lois once again came away with a silver medal.

Lois has had two successful weekends, and is now in training for her next big competition; the British National Championships on the 16th October, in Sheffield

She is hoping to go one better than last years championships and come home with a gold medal while also been nominated to be an Olympic Games Torchbearer.
