Beverley Town CC Finish Second In Premier League

Beverley 1st XI finished their season with a resounding nine wicket win at home to Clifton Alliance.

The visitors batted first and made 178 for 9. Star bowler for Beverley was veteran who bowled a marathon 25 overs to take 6 for 84.

The total was a formality for the Beverley batsmen. Pete Groves made 39 before joined the resolute to see Town home for the loss of Groves’ wicket.

Mitchell, desparate to secure his position at the top of the batting averages, made an unbeaten 66 and Fisher, without a decent score for several weeks, made 59 not out as Town cruised to a comfortable win.

Town have finished in the runners up position, after being tipped by the York league press secretary for relegation, and this represents their best ever finish in the Premier League.

Beverley 1st XI beat Clifton Alliance by 9 wickets.
