Free Youth Event @ Beverley Skate Park

Youth workers from East Riding of Yorkshire Council have organised a fun, free event for young people on Monday, 22 August from 6-9pm at Beverley Skate Park, Beverley Leisure Centre Fields, Flemingate, to raise awareness of healthy living.

Workers from the Council and East Riding Detached team have invited Sports Development workers from the leisure centre to organise a six-a-side competition, which town councillors will attend, alongside the town mascot, Bertie Beaver.

The , Peter Astell, will be in attendance and will present the winners’ prizes, and he will be accompanied by the chair of the Local Action Team, and many other councillors.

The free event has an aim of raising awareness of healthy living in a fun and interactive way. Young people who are currently volunteering as part of the National Citizen Service pilot scheme will be promoting the event, working alongside youth workers, health specialists and sports development workers. Activities will raise awareness of healthy eating, drugs and alcohol, emotional well being, relationships, sexual health, and exercise.

The Connexions Mobile and East Riding Public Health Vehicle will give the space for workshops and refreshments, which will include a free healthy barbeque and free non-alcoholic drinks.

Young people will also have the chance to win prizes through quizzes and .

Anyone who wishes to participate in the free event but does not want to join a six-a-side team can still come along on the evening and join in with the fun.
