Beverley RUFC’s 2011/2012 campaign kicks off next week with a home fixture at Beaver Park against Hull Ionians on Friday night 19 August Kick-off 6.45 p.m. in the first round of the Yorkshire Cup.
Originally scheduled as a pre- season warm up match, when the draw was made both clubs readily agreed to play it as the cup tie, which will certainly add a little spice to the game.
Apart from benefiting the fitness levels it will give both sides a really good competitive run-out and enable them to hit the ground running when their respective league programmes commence.
By coincidence Beverley RUFC won the RFU sponsored 10 a- side competition last weekend beating Hull Ionians in the final by 19 points to 12.
Both clubs played experimental sides, each with a good sprinkling of experience with youth which made for an entertaining game. A repeat of the result would be very welcome on the 19th.
Beverley will not select their side until Tuesday of next week, but it is hoped that they will be able to select from a full strength squad.
