Hypnotherapy Proves Vital Support in Birth Of New Beverley Baby

Beverley based hypnotherapist, is delighted to announce the success of treatment in childbirth.

The recent arrival, baby Sophia Douse who weighed in at 8lb 4oz was ten days late but mum Laura was well prepared and delighted to have the natural birth she had hoped for.  She explains:

“The most important thing for me about my labour was that I wanted to feel in control and relaxed during the pain of contractions.  My labour actually lasted for 18 hours from start to finish and during that time I required no pain relief and was able to enjoy a water-birth.  I began hypnotherapy treatment with Sheila Granger four weeks prior to my due date.

The sessions involved Sheila providing me with strategies to help focus on relaxation.  I understood that it is easy to feel panicked when the pain intensifies and knowing it would be over a prolonged period, I just wanted to be sure I could handle it and not be screaming for an epidural, which was the last thing I wanted.”

“There is no denying that the birth was painful, but it was entirely manageable and I felt such a great sense of achievement in delivering our beautiful daughter and didn’t even want gas and air.”

“My husband Matt couldn’t believe how relaxed I was and we are both so pleased I chose to have the hypnotherapy with Sheila, it was an invaluable support and enabled me to have the birth I really wanted.”

Sheila Granger explains: “Laura was able to recall the techniques we had practiced and by relaxing during and between contractions helped to conserve the vital energy needed for the final stage of labour to push the baby out.  There is nothing magical or mystical about hypnotherapy, instead it engages the brain during a time of need when the mind needs to focus on getting through a potentially traumatic event.  It is ideal for childbirth and a couple can be hypnotised together for added support when the labour pains intensify.  I am really proud of Laura, she was able to have the delivery she had chosen and what an achievement to deliver without pain relief.”

Sheila Granger will be running birthing classes for couples to attend on Monday 15, 22 and 29 August from 7:00-8:30pm from her clinic in Beverley, East Yorkshire.  For more information please email think@sheilagranger.com> think@sheilagranger.comthink@sheilagranger.com> or call 01482 863659.
