The City Hall in Hull will be the venue for the debut concerto performance by talented Beverley pianist Adam Davies on Saturday, 16th July.

Adam will be performing the first movement of Grieg’s Piano Concerto accompanied by the award winning .

This concerto is probably the most famous in the repertoire (and certainly the most familiar thanks to the memorable Morecambe and Wise Christmas Show sketch with Andre Previn!)

Adam has just completed his A-Levels at Beverley Grammar School and will be commencing his piano studies at the Royal Northern College of in September.  Adam is no stranger to the Steinway piano at the City Hall, having previously played one of the solo parts in Carnival of the Animals and also accompanying local actress in a magical performance of “The Snowman”.

Adam expressed his delight with this latest opportunity –

“This is a great chance for me to play one of my favourite pieces with all my friends in the orchestra.”

, musical director of the East Riding Youth Orchestra, said:

“Adam is a very talented young pianist who richly deserves this exposure.  He has worked incredibly hard to develop into a very fine musician.  The orchestra love listening to him play and I’m sure that the audience will too.”

The programme will also include an exciting piece for the specially formed Wind Orchestra that describes the exotic sounds of the Island of Samoa in the Pacific Ocean.

The 150 strong East Riding Schools Choir will be singing a selection from “Les Miserables” and the senior percussion ensemble will be performing after their recent appearance in the National Festival of Music for Youth in Birmingham.

This is an opportunity to hear all that is best in youth music-making in the magnificent setting of Hull City Hall.
