Programme Of Events Finalised As Beverley Armed Forces Day Nears

Flyers are being delivered as the finishing touches are put to Sunday’s ’s Armed Forced Day.

Chairman and wife Janet have been delivering the flyers over the past few days and with the arrival of programmes for the day – smaller and more green than last year – the countdown to the big day now begins in earnest.

Councillor Elvidge will appear on the Andy Comfort breakfast show on BBC Radio Humberside on Friday ahead of the event, while Comfort will also present Sunday’s show from the event. James Hogarth will be the MC.

The order of the day is as follows (subject to change):

09:00 – Piped Music

10:00 – Official Opening Ceremony
with civic guests

10:30 – Choir

11:00 – Parade and Drum Head and Tiger Moth
Fly Past (weather permitting)

11:30 – Poetry Reading: MP
and other guest speakers

12:00 – Concert Band

12:45 – Humberside and South Yorkshire
Army Cadet Force Band

13:15 – Humberside Police Concert Band

14:00 – Beverley Musical Theatre:
Songs from the Shows

14:30 – Beverley Male Voice Choir

15:00 – Beverley and District Pipe Band:
Medley of Battle Honours

15:30 – Beverley Musical Theatre:
War Time Sing-along

16:00 – Prince of Wales Division Band:
Last Night at the Proms

17:00 – Lone Piper and Armed
Forces Day Conclusion.

Other attractions on the day will include flight simulators, a host of army vehicles, the Gurkha curry and a host of other entertainments.

Councillor Elvidge also warned of the car parking restrictions on Sunday.

He said: “There’s a warning to those parking in Town on Saturday.

“It would be wise to heed this as from 0600 on Sunday any cars still parked there will be lifted and a fine must be paid for their return.

will put warning notices up beforehand.”
