Sometime between 2200hrs on Monday 27 June 2011 and 0530hrs on Tuesday 28 June 2011, someone climbed onto the flat roof of a property in Woodhall Way and opened an insecure window. They then cleared the windowsill of items and police believe this was in preparation for climbing into the property.

Fortunately no entry was made by the offender – possibly because they were disturbed – and police are appealing for anyone who may have witnessed the incident, or noticed anything suspicious in the area, to come forward.

Detective Sergeant Alison Sweeting from Beverley CID said: “This is the time of year when many people leave their windows open at night following the warm weather, sadly this provides an open invitation to would-be burglars.

“I would ask that anyone with a window that can be reached by climbing onto something below it, closes and locks that window at night and when not in use.

“Residents are also encouraged to report any suspicious activity in the area to the police.”
