Witness Appeal: RTC A1079, Near Beverley

are in attendance at a road collision on the A1079 near Beverley in East Yorkshire.

A call was received at 0857hrs from a motorist reporting a head-on collision involving two vehicles – a red Ford Focus and a blue Peugeot 206.

The Peugeot was travelling towards Hull and the Ford was travelling in the opposite direction towards Beverley.

The exact location of the collision is the A1079, between Jock’s Lodge and the new roundabout.

The fire and ambulance are both in attendance along with police.

There are several casualties although at this time I can’t be more specific about the exact number or the nature of their injuries.

The road is currently blocked and the slip road from the A164 onto the A1079 has been closed along with the stretch of A1079 between Jocks Lodge and the Dunswell roundabout.

There is standing traffic in the area that officers are trying to clear and motorists are advised to follow the diversions and if possible avoid the area.

    The scene of the collision on the A1079 near Beverley is now clear and the road has just been fully re-opened at approximately 1345hrs.

    In total six people were taken to hospital with varying injuries.

    Three men from the Peugeot were injured and a man, woman and small child from the Ford Focus were injured.

    No injuries received are believed to be life threatening and all casualties were taken to Hull Royal Infirmary .
