Sides Settle For Draw As Rain Rules

Both Beverley Town Cricket Club teams (2ndXI and 3rd XI) had to settle for draws on Saturday after heavy rain caused both games to be abandoned. Beverley will be slightly disappointed with proceedings as both teams posted good totals before the rain came.

The 2nd XI posted 214 for 7 off 45 overs. After loosing quick wickets Ben Fish (43) and Pete Hynes (56) rebuilt the innings with positive play. With the team always chasing 200 valuable contributions came lower in the order with quick runs coming from Simon Rowe (20). However it was an 8th wicket partnership of 43 with 5 overs to go from (25no) and (19no) that helped Beverley get the extra batting point.

The 3rd XI looked to put their recent struggles behind them with a strong performance against Humbleton, Kevin Thomson ensured they got off to the best possible start with a quick (28) before being bizarrely dismissed. With Richard Moon anchoring the Beverley innings it allowed (49) and Paul Flemming (56) to play with some freedom down the order. As Beverley looked to score in excess of 250 Moon was finally caught on 85, leaving captain straight bat (12no) to see Beverley to 258 for 6 off 48 overs.
