Junior Football Round Up: Wizards Win While Athletic Are Stunning

MILL LANE WIZARDS UNDER 9s: The Wizards made an impressive return to action with two convincing wins against Victoria Dock in League One.

Harry Sadler and scored the goals that earned them a 2-1 win in the first game.

Haysom was on target in their second clash, but the strike of the game came from Lloyd Bean, whose perseverance paid off with a fine finish to seal the 3-0 victory after a Dock own goal.

His two goals earned left-midfielder Haysom a well-deserved man-of-the-match award

CHERRY BURTON UNDER 11s: Two first-half goals from Bradley Maffin set Cherry Burton on the way to a 5-1 home defeat of Anlaby Road Rangers.

But they had to work harder than the scoreline suggests to secure their victory. Harry Davis scored the other goal to go with Maffin’s double as the home side cruised to a 3-0 half-time lead.

It took great defending from Matthew Jenkins, Jack Curtis, Alec Miller, Elbie Laurie and replacements Charles Williams and Harry Hamphil to keep out Rangers at the start of the second half.

But despite conceding in between, they scored again through Owen Parnaby and Matthew Phillips to claim the points.

RAMS UNDER 12s:  Rams continued their good league form with a fine 2-0 at Skirlaugh in an entertaining match.
The match was as a stalemate at the interval, with both the defences well on top.

It continued this way into the second hald before struck a great goal to put Rams into the lead. And they doubled their lead when Ollie Baldwin scored an almost mirror image goal of the first.

BEVERLEY WHITESTAR ATHLETIC UNDER13s: Athletic produced a stunning performance to hammer outclassed Withernsea 10-3.
Despite going behind, they soon put their foot on the pedal and raced to a 5-2 half-time lead. The Athletic goals came from leading scorer Liam Sharpley (2), Rob Tate and Sam Harman (2).

Athletic refused to let up and hammered home their advantage. Further goals came from James Ayre, Mikey Ward, Charlie Sygrove and Max Bentham.

The man-of-the match award went to Mikey Ward.

BEVERLEY WHITESTAR BULLDOGS UNDER-14s: Bulldogs failed to bring their A-game an went down to a 2-1 home defeat by Batemans Juniors.
They failed to take a host of chances in the first-half and Batemans made them pay when they opened the scoring. But Bulldogs hit back five minutes later through Adam Christie to make it 1-1 at the break.

Bulldogs failed to capitalise on their possession as the second-half opened and paid the ultimate price when Batemans took the winning lead with five minutes to go.

Luke Wheeldon was named man-of-the-match.
