Selina Marshall: Making Music in Mexico

Former Minster and pupil developed a talent for playing the violin whilst at school. A talent which has seen her achieve incredible success with her band in Mexico City where they have recently launched a new album.

A passion for music inspired Selina and her band members to develop their own record label IDM Records (Impacto Diffusion Music). The label launched the career of many Mexican and also handled publicity for bands from UK, Spain and Denmark. However, the label was forced into closure due to a spell of bad luck.

Selina’s passion for music continued to grow as they launched an internet TV channel www.zonaindie.tv where new and established bands are showcased to the masses. Throughout these experiences the team behind the music projects grew closer and after the following incident connected musically.

Band member Zenith took a trip to the desert in Mexico where he set a royal eagle free and became at one with nature. Upon his return to civilization Zenith formed the band Zenith & DJ Nadir along with violinist Selina who’s artistically referred to as Aithne and DJ Nadir.

The bands lyrics are heavily inspired by Zenith’s desert experience – they evoke the human spirit and reflect the life of a man who has hit rock bottom. The band mix electronic music, rock, Hispanic and Latin influences to create an amalgam of unique sound sensations that can be heard on the band’s MySpace page.

In November 2010, Zenith DJ Nadir launched their new album, distributed by Believe Digital. , managing director of Believe Digital, who managed The Libertines, The Hives and many others, showed great interest in Zenith’s unique sound and immediately signed up the band for digital distribution. Their album is now available on iTunes, Amazon MP3 and all major distributors.
