Green Energy Revolution a Step Closer

, MP for Beverley and Holderness today responded to an announcement by wind turbine maker Siemens that Hull had been selected as the preferred location for its UK manufacturing operations.

He said:

“This is fantastic news and shows just how well placed Hull and the East Riding is to become the heart of the green energy revolution in this country.

“Today’s announcement is, however, just the first hurdle and now the real work has to start. Both myself, and the other MPs in the area, will now work hard to make this a reality.”

And he added:

“I have been kept informed about all the work which has been done in the background to get this far and have fully supported Green Port Hull.

“I am sure that when Siemens does come to the docks it will be the start of a rapid expansion of businesses in the area which could well see important Associated British Ports land in the Beverley and Holderness constituency developed with many new jobs being created.”

Graham has always supported plans by Associated British Ports (ABP) to create a base for renewable energy companies on the Hull/East Riding border.

He said

“I recently met with the ABP port director Matt Jukes and was told about the plans for the development of this area to host a number of green energy businesses.

“This is both an ambitious plan and one which could really put the area on the map as a centre of excellence for renewable energy.”

“The plans would see areas of the docks in Hull expanded and improved as well as land owned by ABP near Hedon being developed for renewable energy companies.”
