Eric Gill Art Exhibition Comes to Beverley

A new touring exhibition, which includes 100 outstanding original wood engravings by Eric Gill, printed between 1929 and 1934, is sweeping across North Yorkshire and is a rare chance to buy his work.

The show comes to Beverley Arms Hotel, 25 Within, Beverley, 8DD, Thursday 2nd to Saturday 4th December, 10am – 5pm.

Eric Gill (1882-1940) was one of the most colourful figures in early 20th century art, despite the majority of his prints being in black and white. Sculptor, printmaker, typographer and writer, Gill’s subject matter swung between the deeply religious and the highly erotic, a direct echo of his eccentric life.

“It is the unequalled clarity of line of his engravings that has made Gill’s work so sought after,” says Scarborough based exhibition organiser, Marc Goldmark. “With prices starting at just £45, this is an amazing chance to acquire a wood engraving by this incredible artist.”
