Mohicans Score 18 in Plate Cup Match

The plate has been a competition in which Mohicans have had much success in the past and so it proved again.

Entertaining North Cave Tigers Hart, Mohicans started strongly and never looked back after beat three defenders in the box and hit an unstoppable shot. The next goal came when Jamie Spence passed to Callum Ward who scored with ease.

Louie Kelly, Greg Whyley and Will Woods were commanding at the back while Harry Staniforth played some great balls down the line for Marc O’Hare and then to chase. From one of these Marc O’Hare beat a couple of defenders before putting the perfect cross over for to score. A rasping shot from Jamie Spence hit a post before hitting an unfortunate Cave full back and it then careered into his own net. Callum Ward collected a weak dead ball and finished well from the edge of the box.

At half time it was 5-1 with the Mohicans striving to play even better in the second half. With two goals in the first minute Mohicans were in command. Steven Heath, Oliver Morrison and Marc O’Hare all scored early in the half and with Will Collingwood, playing after a three week lay off, back to his skilful best and going past defenders as is they were not there, more goals followed. Dan Naldrett scored following good play by Will Collingwood and Steven Heath and then Will Collingwood got on the score sheet himself.

With goals rattling in Mohicans looked to get their highest ever score which they managed when Dan Naldrett completed his hat trick. There were also hat tricks for Jamie Spence, Sam Tuft and Callum Ward while Will Collingwod scored twice and Marc O’Hare, Oliver Morrison and Steven Heath got one each. Final score 18-3 was a fantastic team effort but Marc O’Hare just pipped it for man of the match.
