Beverley Parks Apple Fest 2010

’s Apple Fest will be held on Sunday, 3 October, 2010 at the , Parks from 11am to 3pm.

The free event has been organised by the council’s countryside access team. Funding for the event has been provided by the East Yorkshire Federation of Women’s Institutes, Local Heritage Initiative and the East Riding of Yorkshire Council.

Activities planned for the Apple Fest include falconry displays, chainsaw carving, environmental art, face painting, charcoal burning and marquees packed with countryside activities and information.

The Beverley Beekeepers will also be holding their annual Honey Show.

The Women’s Institute will be providing a multitude of apple-related sweets and savouries to taste, whilst the Northern Fruit Group will be on hand to identify apple varieties –  for anyone who brings three examples of their mystery apple.

James Taylor, countryside access officer for the East Riding of Yorkshire Council, said:

“The Apple Fest at Beverley Parks is a wonderful opportunity to find out about preserving apples varieties, traditional landscapes and crafts. With a wide range of activities for all the family set in one of East Riding’s most fascinating nature reserves, this really will be a great way to spend a Sunday.”

The event will be held at the Millennium Orchard from 11am and 3pm and anyone is welcome to turn up.

Free car parking is available and a new hard standing footpath will lead those taking part to the activities.
