Clean Sheet & Three Goals As Tanners March On

Hodgsons FC

kept their first clean sheet of the season with a workman-like display against a stubborn FC side.

Hodgsons were without first team regulars Karl Wallis, and Paul Silvester for the trip to Springhead Lane, and a late fitness was given to Goal Keeper Josh Sewell who sustained a nasty leg injury during the week.

The game couldn’t have started any worse for the Tanners when Richard Durham limped off with a re-occurrence of last weeks hamstring injury after just 12 minutes.

With the wind against Hodgsons, the first half was proving to be a very difficult task breaking down the Kingburn defense. Their were limited chances for both sides and this resulted in both teams having to settle for 0-0 at half
time.

The second half was dominated very much by Hodgsons, and on 61 minutes the away side finally got the breakthrough they were after. Substitute Steve Grantham tapped in from close range after excellent wing play by Dennis Edgar.

10 minutes later another substitute, , slid in at the far post to score after Andrew Stott had worked his way to the bar line and set him up with a fine cross.

Further chances came and went for The Tanners, with full back Chris Robinson striking the bar with a free-kick and Stott striking the ball just wide of the post.

In the final ten minutes of the match captain sealed the points with a turn inside the box and a thunderous drive into the back of the net.

This was an improved performance from Hodgsons, and now they look forward to two home games in a row starting with Brandesburton next week.
