Regional Approval Paves Way For New Community Hospital for the East Riding

NHS Yorkshire and Humber Strategic Health Authority has given its approval for the full case for the new community hospital for the East Riding. This secures capital funding for the development to go ahead at Swinemoor Lane, .

This announcement follows the reserved matters planning approval granted by last month.

The scheme will now progress as planned. Measures to safeguard protected species on site are expected to commence this month. Enabling works will begin from November 2010 and main construction work from January 2011. The construction period will run until March 2012.

The new facility will comprise a 30 bed inpatient facility, outpatient facilities, a range of diagnostic services including x-ray and ultrasound, minor injuries and out of hours facilities, therapy services and a base for Neighbourhood Care Teams. Clinicians who will be working within the hospital have been involved throughout the scheme.
