Hull Animal Welfare Trust: Pets in Need of a New Home

Beverley is a town full of dog-lovers, and having photographed many dogs in Beverley and chatted to their owners, .net has discovered that quite a number of these lovely pets have come from the .

Established in 1982, the Hull Animal Welfare Trust has found homes for tens of thousands of animals including dogs, cats, rabbits and other small animals.

It also incorporates the famous Hull Hedgehog Hospital.  The Trust is based at Sunnydene Animal Shelter in Pinfold, South Cave, just over ten miles from Beverley.  It relies on a loyal and committed band of volunteers to take care of the animals and their surroundings, and depends heavily on donations and fund-raising to carry out this fabulous and vital work.

The Hull Animal Welfare Trust will be holding their annual Open Day on Sunday 12th September between 1pm and 4pm at the Sunnydene Animal Shelter, South Cave (HU15 2JR).  As well as all the usual attractions you would expect to find, such as refreshments, stalls and tombolas, there will be a dog show organised by the staff.

As well as raising funds to help all the homeless animals in their care, the Trust also hope that some of their most patient ‘guests’ may finally find a new home.  Top of the Trust’s list of Most Deserving Pets is Polar, a 10-year-old German Shepherd with a lovely nature and a beautiful pale-coloured coat, who has been residing at Sunnydene for two years.  They are also hoping to find a family who will take on Kate and Kim, two 8-year-old cats who want to stay together.

Their telephone number is 01430 423986 and they are open 365 days a year between 11am and 2pm – no appointments necessary.
