The Humberside Police Roadshow took part in the Show last week as part of its “We are Where You Are” summer campaign.

Police officers, PCSOs and police staff were out in force, meeting the public, giving out crime prevention advice and finding out what really matters to local residents and communities.

Members of the Beverley Rural Neighbourhood Police Team were canvassing local residents about their concerns and were on hand to offer crime prevention advice about vehicle crime, burglary and anti-social behaviour.

PC Julie Turrell and Sarah Hague were also promoting Farm Watch which is an early warning system that alerts local farmers about potential burglars operating in their area.  PC Turrell, said:  “This is a really valuable exercise to get out and meet local residents and hear more about the issues that matter to them.

“The Driffield Show is an excellent event to get out and promote Farm Watch, which can help to alert local farmers about protecting their property and valuable machinery from travelling thieves moving into the area.”

Neighbourhood policing teams will be taking part in family events across the Humberside force area throughout the summer.  The back-to-basics approach is combined with ground-breaking so that Humberside Police can effectively gauge public opinion, in real time, and use this information to tackle issues that are the priority concerns of local neighbourhoods.

Together with balloons, colouring books and lollies for the kids, Humberside Police will be using a big screen digital van, roaming i-Pad and Wii technologies to elicit vital information from residents about the issues that concern them in their own area, in order to guide an effective and impactive policing policy.

The road show will be visiting most of the major events across the summer including Veterans Day, East Park, Hull, Cleethorpes Carnival and Brid Bash, Bridlington.  Assistant Chief Constable Stuart Donald, said: “We will be speaking to people as they enjoy the summer to find out what really matters to them and what they want and expect from local policing.

“This information will be vital as we prepare our policing plans for the future. We will be using this important information to guide us in tackling the things that matter most to people in our area. This will help us to meet local needs when our officers are on patrol.”
