Three Little Ponies

Shoppers in Beverley Town Centre this week may have noticed three miniature ponies having a stroll amongst them.

The Miniature Shetland Ponies were accompanied by volunteers of a national charity ‘Phoenix Childrens Foundation’ Fund’ which raises money to support programmes to help disadvantaged children enjoy the experience of horse-riding.

Shelia Barnard from the charity explained,

“We provide riding lessons and equipment to disabled and seriously ill children across the country.”

“In total we have ten of those ponies you saw in Beverley, and we when possible we like to take them out with us when we’re fund-raising as they get a lot of interest from members of the public.”

The charity relies heavily on donations from the public to maintain its good work.  The money raised in Beverley will be used to pay for schemes  run in the Humberside region.”
