Warners’ Walkington Fun Run: Race Report

A 1.75 mile family fun run was held before the main 10k race at Walkington last Friday.  It was a fine summer’s evening for runners and spectators and the event was a great success.

The race was won by Joe Dudill in 9.49.  He finished 7 seconds ahead of the second boy, David Mason of Kingston-upon-Hull AC.  Philip Nesom of York Acorn won the prize for the third boy to finish.

Beverley’s put in a strong performance to finish third overall in 10.11 and was the first girl to cross the line.  She was followed by Chelsea Walker and Beverley club mate Dayna Arnott.

While some runners were competing for prizes, most were taking the opportunity to have an enjoyable run in the sunshine.  There were children running with their parents and adults running to keep fit.  Several Beverley Athletic Club members ran the fun run with their sons: Sam and Ted Allen, Nicola and Aidan Glover, Andy and Adam Meese.

There were 177 finishers and all received a medal.  Their results and photos can be viewed at www.beverleyac.com
