Three generations of the Robinson / Glover family took part in the Humber Bridge 10k and fun run last Sunday.

Seven year-old Aidan and four year-old Erin Glover were joined by their grandmother Denise Robinson in the fun run while their mum Nicola Glover and grandad competed for Beverley Athletic Club in the 10k.

The children were delighted with their medals and proudly cheered on their mum and grandad as they finished the 10k together in a dead heat.

After a hot sunny day on Saturday, conditions on Sunday morning for the 10k were perfect – cooler temperatures with a slight breeze and gentle drizzle.  Over 300 runners crossed the bridge in the annual event which is organised by City of Hull Athletic Club.

The race was part of the Beverley Athletic Club handicap series and it was Jackie Wright who won the handicap this time.  Wright has made significant improvement recently and her win was well deserved.  Second in the handicap was Eddy Moore whose rivalry with third-placed Nicola Glover took them both to better performances.

Steve Peacock was again the first Beverley runner to finish.  He was 7th overall and was awarded first prize in the 45 – 49 age group.  Peacock is enjoying his best form for six years and is picking up prizes regularly.

Julie Donald was the first Beverley lady to finish and 6th lady overall.  She won first prize in the 35 – 44 age group.  Veterans prizes were also awarded to Eddy Moore (65+) and (55+).

set a new personal best time and Kay Farrow finished four minutes faster than last year and recorded her fastest time in a 10k for several years.

There were 365 finishers and the race was won by Steve Bateson of East Hull Harriers in 32.12 – over 3 minutes ahead of second placed Gregan Clarkson of Kingston.  The first lady to finish was Elaine Storey of City of Hull in 41.15.
