Beverley Town CC Vs Humbleton

cricketer CC paid a heavy price for a series of missed catches in their Newland Evening League clash with Humbleton at the Norwood Recreation Ground.

Their inability to capitalise on some good bowling, especially from off-spinner Peter Parnaby, saw the visitors rack up an impressive 124-2 from their 12 eight balls overs – a score just too big for Beverley to chase.

Key to the powerful Humbleton score were Matthew and Danny Wilkinson. Matthew drove and slapped his way to an unbeaten 62, but not before he was effectively dropped three times in the space of two Parnaby overs.

Brother Danny (30no), although brutal through cow corner, was also handed some notable let-offs as a big finish took them to their total.

It was always going to be a big ask for Beverley, and so it proved.

Anthony Spence showed some encouraging form for the home side, top-scoring with 20. But the total was too much for Beverley as Danny Wilkinson capped off his excellent evening with 2-20 as Beverley reached 89-6 and slipped to a 35-run defeat.
