Beverley ARLC Lift Ray Speckman Cup

Beverley ARLFC produced a thrilling second-half fightback to win the at on Saturday.

Trailing 18-6 at the break in energy-sapping heat, Beverley’s powerful pack gradually ground down Cottingham Tigers’ defence to earn a thoroughly-deserved  28-18 victory in front of a vocal travelling crowd.

Second-half tries from Craig Hamlet, Matt Bielby and a superb brace from hooker Gavin Proctor, added to Liam Lane’s first-half try, brought the cup to the town.

But victory was marred when, in the dying minutes and with the match in the bag, , who had been brilliant in the centres,  went down under a heavy tackle and suffered a serious leg injury.
