A group of Beverley fundraisers are giving their sponsors great value for money at a specially-themed evening at the Cornerhouse tomorrow (Thursday) night.
Hannah Thoresby and her ‘Team Beverley’ – Helen Bissett, Geoff Bissett and Laura Foley, and Hannah herself – are raising money for Oxfam by taking part in the daunting ‘100-mile-in-26-hours’ Trailtrekker Challenge next month.
But instead of just asking people for sponsorship, the team have laid on a night of fun and entertainment at the Cornerhouse. For £10, people get a curry and a pint and music from an acoustic guitarist, and the knowledge they are helping a worthy cause.
Hannah told HU17.net: “Instead of asking people to simply sponsor us, we thought we’d give a little back by laying on an evening of fun and entertainment.
“The singer does a few ‘blue’ songs, so that’s why we have had to say it’s for over 18s only.
“The challenge is over the June 5 and 6 and starts in Skipton in the Yorkshire Dales. It’s the equivalent of walking from the Cornerhouse to Middlesbrough or Nottingham in just over a day!”
