Opener James Broekhuizen (40) played some nice shots before being well caught at slip and junior player Rob Wicks continued his excellent start to the season with 24. Gareth Richardson and Aidan Thorburn began the onslaught with Richardson hitting four sixes and three fours in his 56. Thorburn made an invaluable unbeaten 16.
Jamie Nowell ripped through the Wawne batting claiming 5 for 43 in his twelve overs. Sam Welburn took 1 for 33. Tris Featherby then produced a very tight spell at one end as, at the other end, slow bowlers Richardson and Neil Goforth were briefly hit to all parts of the ground. Goforth (1-21) did however make the breakthrough claiming Wawne’s ninth wicket before Featherby (2 for 14) deservedly claimed the last man.
