Juniors Perform Well in Bank Holiday Races

What a weekend for some of the older members of the Juniors.

First up, The Kirkbymoorside 10K, this is a challenging race for even the most experienced of runners, with it’s 2.5 mile uphill start!  Kendal Arnott (age 15) decided this would be a good event for her 10K debut, and with a finishing time of 48:47 she shows good promise for the future.

Coach Neil Sergeant, who ran with Kendal, said;

“I tried to encourage her when she started to tire.  I am absolutely delighted with her performance, especially as she did not realise quite how well she was doing”.

The first Beverley junior to finish was Andy Harding in a fantastic time of 38:47, which was only a minute behind senior (37:46).  Other members of the Arnott family competing today were Jordan 42:16, Corey 44:45 and Kelvin 51:08.

With somewhat tired legs these athletes then competed on Monday in the 3000m race at the Kit Bell Memorial Track Meeting in Grimsby.

Demonstrating that younger legs are quicker to recover and faster over the shorter distance, Andy beat Mark and finished in first position.  Overall, not such a restful Bank Holiday weekend.
