Internationally Acclaimed Soprano to Sing in Beverley Minster

Claire Booth, originally from Lund near Beverley, will join the to sing Haydn’s Nelson Mass and Michael Haydn’s Requiem on Saturday 1st May at 7.30 pm. It promises to be a gem of a concert.

Educated at Hull High School until the age of eleven, she later went on to receive a double first in Modern from Oxford University. A career in beckoned and her studies continued at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama. A finalist in the 2004 Kathleen Ferrier Competition, she subsequently became the recipient of numerous scholarships and awards.

Claire’s first singing lessons were with choir member Diana Pocock of Beverley. Claire had already passed three exams and Grade 5 theory with excellent marks by the age of eleven, so her exceptional talent was apparent from the very beginning.

She has worked with many of the leading orchestras here and abroad and with English National Opera and Opera North. She has performed in the BBC .

Alan Spedding will conduct the choir and the East Riding Sinfonia in the Minster. Other soloists on the night are Laura Trayhurn (contralto), Julian Stocker (tenor) and James Birchell (bass).
