Beverley RUFC Welcome Hartlepool to Beaver Park

Beverley RUFC

face West Hartlepool in what is their first home game since 6 February and will be hoping to return to winning ways. West have been plagued by relegation worries all season and have languished in the bottom three for most of the season. The Beavers won the fixture in Hartlepool by 39 points to 5 back in early December and will be keen to repeat that performance on Saturday.

They should be cheered on by a bumper crowd for the game since they are celebrating 50 years of rugby since the club re-formed, initially as Longcroft Old Boys, after the second world war.

Over 80 ex players are expected to attend a pre-match buffet lunch and watch the game to mark the occasion and the Beverley under 16 side will entertain the West Hartlepool U16’s in a curtain raiser kicking – off at 12.30 p.m.

In addition Beverley 2nd XV entertain Scarborough in an East Yorkshire League fixture and kick-off at 1. 45 p.m.

With the 1st XV kicking off at 3 p.m therefore, an afternoon of almost continuous rugby is available at Beaver Park.

The Rugby fest is followed by a Race night in the clubhouse commencing at 7.30 p.m.

Beverley are not sure of the situation yet regarding injuries with skipper , Richard Bussey, , , Fran Pickering, Junior Tupai, Gavin Gibson and all nursing them, although club physio Nikki Grayson is hopeful that most of them will recover in time to be selected.
