Keep Longcroft School 3G Open

Longcroft School in Beverley are appealing to members of the public and users of the all weather pitch situated in their grounds to contact planning team to appeal the 8pm closure.

The all weather pitch which has proved to be a hugely valuable asset to sports groups in Beverley and surrounding areas has reached the end of a 12 month agreement that allow the flood lights to remain till 9pm.

Until recently the flood lights were permitted to be used until 9pm allowing local teams including train on evening at time when they were able to get all their squad together.

Longcroft School is appealing to the sporting community, parents and other residents to support their application to keep the all weather 3G pitch open till 9pm so more can benefit from facility.

Only this week Danny William’s, manager of who happen play their home games at Longcroft School spoke up about the lake of fields and playing services in Beverley demanding more needs to be done about it.

The loss of the extra hour may not sound much though across a month it will mean a loss of around 20 – 24 hours per week leaving many clubs with no where to practise or train.

Anyone involved in sport should seriously consider getting behind the schools bid with planning committee.

If you would like to support Longcroft’s application for the All-weather Pitch to be open until 9pm, please write to the ERYC Planning Department by Friday 5th February 2010. You will have to quote this reference number DC/09/04598/VAR and more information can be found by downloading this PDF: All-weather Pitch Planning Consultation Information.
