Eleanor Tomlinson to Narrate at Christmas Concert

The City Hall in Hull is the venue for this year’s truly magical Concert featuring the East Riding Senior Wind Band and the East Riding Youth Orchestra on Sunday December 13th.

Magic really will be in the air as the Youth Orchestra welcome local actress, Eleanor Tomlinson as their guest narrator in Howard Blake’s “The Snowman”.  On Sunday 13th December local actress, Eleanor Tomlinson, will join with the from and the East Riding Youth Orchestra to bring the story of “The Snowman” to life in  Hull City Hall.

Eleanor’s biggest role so far came in Paramount Pictures coming of age comedy ‘Angus Thongs and Perfect Snogging’ in which she played Jas. Most recently, younger viewers will have seen Eleanor as an alien, Eve, in ‘The Sarah Jane Adventures’ on BBC1.

She has since worked  with acclaimed director Tim Burton on his film adaptation of Alice in Wonderland, due in cinemas in March next year.  The movie stars Johnny Depp, Helena Bonham Carter, Alan Rickman, Sir Christopher Lee, Anne Hathaway, Matt Lucas and Michael Sheen to name but a few.  Eleanor, 17 who lives in Beverley is relishing the challenge of narrating the story that brings to life Raymond Briggs’ original book and film.  “It is amazing working with the orchestra, a real challenge for me to do something new and exciting.”

Robert Mitchell musical director of the East Riding Youth Orchestra is confident that the audience will be in for a treat.  “The Snowman is now regarded as one of the best musical stories to have been produced over the last 50 years.  It is as appealing now as when it was first seen on television on Christmas Eve over 25 years ago.

The story will be even more effective for the audience when it is told by a young actress as talented as Eleanor who is already a very accomplished performer.”  The concert includes Christmas items from the youth orchestra, senior wind band and the Swinemoor Primary School Choir. Over 200 talented young musicians from East Yorkshire will be taking the stage to ensure that the audience’s Christmas is full of musical magic.
