East riding senior cup bev town 3-1 pocklington

Beverley went into this game looking for a confidence boosting win, after playing well in recent weeks but not getting the desired result!

Town lined up with a 3-5-2 formation, giving them a solid backbone and extra width with Eddie rafton and pushing on at every opportunity.
There was also welcome return for tom Thompson in goal, replacing the suspended mark Cockin.

Town started brightly, playing a high tempo passing game, they worked the ball well in all areas and worked pocklington hard all over the pitch. towns possesion game started to get the better of pocklington, with a good opening carved out down the left wing, Eddie rafton played a great ball low and hard across the face of pocklingtons six yard box, and the on rushing rich Durham was inches away from making it one nil to Beverley.

The next passage of play saw the referee having to brandish his cards! A long ball over the town defence was shepherded over the touchline by Trev Lynn, as he shielded the ball the pocklington number 9 took a swipe at his ankles.  Lynn reacted angrily and both players received their marching orders!
Both teams played out the remaining 15 minutes cautiously, hoping to get to half time and re group.

Beverley director of youth development , Paul Garwood, who was in charge of first team affairs for the day, had some decisions to make. After a quick discussion he sent the side out in a 3-5- 1 formation, which town settled into comfortably. They started the 2nd half well, attacking down both flanks, winning midfield battles and creating good chances.  The break through came on 55 minutes when tucked away a nice finish after a good move down the right hand side. Town now took full control of the game, and pocklington barely troubled Thompson in the Beverley goal. On 70 minutes town extended their lead with a well taken goal by Steve skinns.

The ball was nodded down from a corner, and skinns swiveled on the penalty spot and volleyed home into the top corner, adding to his collection of top drawer goals for the season!  The rout was complete 10 minutes later when after more good work down the right hand side, craig lamplugh ghosted in at the near post for his second goal of the game. Pocklington grabbed a consolation on the final whistle to leave the score 3-1 at full time.

This saturday Town entertain West Ella and Willerby at home, 2pm kick off. With Town in a free scoring run, and West Ella struggling to keep clean sheets, there should be plenty of goals!
