The Archives Open Day

More than 230 members of the public attended an open day held by ’s archives and local studies service at the on Saturday, 26 September.

The day was part of the national archive awareness campaign, which this year was using ‘flight’ as its theme.

Visitors were able to see a display of documents on the theme of flight, take behind the scenes tours of the strong rooms and the conservation workshop and attend talks.

Children’s activities included making a design for a balloon and following a trail of bees around the Treasure House reading room.

Staff joined in by dressing up in costume on the theme of flight.
