Beverley Westwood Cows

Beverley West Wood Cows

The cattle which come from around the North of UK are almost part of the town it self and keep a long standing tradition of having grazing animals on the pastures of the Beverley .

Just a few weeks ago however there were complaints from the that some dog walkers were using the drinking troughs to wash their dogs.

Pasture masters’ vice- chairman Allan English said: “A friend of mine saw a dog being washed in the Cartwright Lane trough and we have received reports of other incidents.

“The practice is not only unhygienic, but also very irresponsible, and we are appealing to the culprits to stop it because it is a potential disease risk.

“Cattle drinking troughs polluted by mud and dog faeces could attract the midges that carry bluetongue disease, which is a threat to our herds.”
